“Cookery is a wholly unselfish art: All good cooks, like all great artists, must have an audience worth cooking for.” – Andre Simon

ABOUT ME

Welcome to my food blog.

I am Veronica, a Peruvian American born and raised in Peru. Most of my time is spent in Florida between my family and my full time job.

Cooking has been a passion since an early age. I learnt to cook at the age of 9 with the help of my mom Tila, who is a pro in the kitchen.

She has been my inspiration and taught me great techniques and tips throughout the years.

My two grandmothers have been influential in my cuisine as well. My maternal grandmother Julia was born in the Northern Coast of Peru in the city of Chiclayo, while my paternal grandmother Rosa was an Italian immigrant from Milan.

Lima, the city where I am from, has been named “the gastronomical capital of Latin America”.

Peruvian food reflects a mix of many cultures Native Peruvians Quechuas and Aymaras, Spanish, Moorish, African, Italian, Japanese and Chinese, among the many nationalities that have been arriving to Peru for the past centuries.

Though I am not a professional chef, I have been cooking for a long time and all the recipes listed have been tested in my home’s kitchen. I am not a professional photographer either, but will be working on my photography skills.

The idea of creating this food blog is to share with you my recipes, and the history and anecdotes behind them.

You will find recipes from Peru, USA, Italy, and other countries.

Some recipes will be easy to make while some others will require a longer preparation time.

As a busy mom, who works full time, I will make sure that at least some of the recipes can be prepared in less time.

Enjoy “Cooking with Veronica”!
